Tolar, Texas is located 9 miles west of Granbury and approximately 40 miles southwest of Ft. Worth. In 1890 the town originally named Squaw Creek Station, was changed to Tolar in honor or Captain Alfred H. H. Tolar. The city was incorporated in 1910. The community was a trade center for area farmers and ranchers and has maintained the small town atmosphere. For those wanting to experience the blend of rural America and suburbia, Tolar and the surrounding area offers a hometown feel with access to cultural attractions and the conveniences of the city - without the inflated expenses and inconveniences of urban sprawl. Today, Tolar is a town of approximately 600 people. The school district is a recognized 1A district and the focus of most community activities. The Tolar Rattlers are football Bi-District Champs, excelling in basketball, track and field, and UIL academics as well.
